Tim Vaughn - Visual Artist

I am a self-taught visual artist and licensed architect with 27 years of professional experience, I’ve been creating geometric abstract paintings since February 2018.

I primarily use acrylic paint, pencil, colored pencil, and permanent marker with the specific physical dimensions of the canvas to help define the context. I also create paintings with wood panels and recycled cardboard as a medium.

My architectural drafting background plays a fundamental role in my painted compositions, in layout, organization, and final artworks. My process involves hand sketching, iteration, and exploring a series of compositional studies until I arrive at one to ultimately produce in a painted artwork.

The aim of my non-representational paintings is to create a clear visual expression of straightforward compositions using shapes, color, and linework. Through simple abstraction I explore visual clarity of themes I’m most interested in while allowing the observer to experience the work in their unique way.
